Money Heist Unleashes Panic in Bulawayo: Robbers Storm Businesses, Escaping with Staggering US$14k and R38k Cash!

Two sport betting shops and a hardware shop in Bulawayo were robbed of over US$14,000 and R38,000 cash. The incidents occurred during the weekend, with six armed robbers attacking three security guards at the betting shops before stealing US$4,500 and R25,000 from Chubb safes. In a separate attack, robbers broke into a hardware shop and got away with R13,151 and US$9,631. Police have confirmed the incidents and are hunting down the two gangs responsible for the robberies.

Police Arrest Four Suspected Robbers; One Shot in Shootout

According to Chronicles, four suspected armed robbers have been arrested by the police in Bulawayo. One of the suspects, Vusumuzi Mguni, was arrested after an armed robbery at a homestead in Sigola, Umguza, and was also wanted for an armed robbery that occurred at Council for the Blind in Bulawayo. Mguni led detectives to the arrest of Nkazimulo Ndimande Nyoni, Andile Mudana, and Mbekezeli Moyo. A shootout ensued during Nyoni’s arrest, and he was shot in the left thigh and admitted to a local hospital. The arrest led to the recovery of a gas-operated pellet gun, two axes, a machete, a bolt cutter,two pairs of school shoes, a bag, groceries, and several balaclavas.

Suspects Linked to Multiple Robbery Cases

The suspects are linked to several robbery cases that occurred in Bulawayo from April 11 to May 23, 2023. These cases involve stolen cash, beer, cellphones, meat, fish, household goods, and various valuables. The police stated that the suspects also cleared a case of robbery that occurred on May 23 at a house along Gilchrist Road, Norwood, Bulawayo. The police are appealing for information that may lead to the arrest of the outstanding suspects, identified as Prosper Moyo alias Professor, Prince Dube, Mukaya, and JB.

Intensified Operations Against Robbery Syndicates

The Zimbabwe Republic Police has reiterated that operations targeting robbery syndicates have been intensified throughout the country. The police assured the public that they will account for all robbery suspects and ensure the law takes its course.

National police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi said,
