Man With Albinism Forced to Sleep in Bathroom and Starved by Family
A Sunningdale man has been subjected to cruel and inhumane treatment at the hands of his own family. Admire Kudakwashe Machingauta, a 36-year-old living with albinism has been forced to sleep in a bathroom and denied access to food by his nephew, Tawanda Chipfakacha.
The situation reportedly stems from a messy family dispute over Admire’s return from South Africa. Having spent 11 years working there, Admire returned to his homeland due to xenophobia related changes in his working conditions. He informed his brother and sister about his intentions to come back and they promised to provide him with a room in their house. However, this promise was not kept.

Instead, Admire found himself at the mercy of his nephew and his wife, who have been locking him out of the house and refusing to provide him with food since November of last year. Admire’s plight was brought to light when he was forced to scavenge for leftovers at a funeral. He revealed to H-Metro that his belongings were stored behind a locked door and that he had been sleeping in the bathroom and sometimes in the passage due to a water leak.
Neighbours have been the only ones providing Admire with food and shelter, as he is ignored and mistreated by his own family. The situation has understandably enraged some members of the community, who have threatened to demonstrate against Admire’s family.
Despite attempts to reach Tawanda for comment, he has remained silent on the matter. It is a sad and distressing situation for Admire, who deserves love, respect and care from his family.
