The 40-year-old South African police officer who was arrested and charged with the heinous crime of raping a minor, grooming a child, and creating and distributing child pornography using her own 10-year-old son has been denied bail. The accused officer’s image has already gone viral on social media, depicting a disturbing and intimate act allegedly committed with her underage son.

The Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID) spokesperson, Lizzy Suping, spoke on the matter and revealed that the accused officer was denied bail on the grounds that she lacked a fixed address and had interfered with witnesses. She added that the gravity of the charges levied against her is such that she is to remain in custody until the case has been fully investigated.

The video clip of the officer allegedly committing the illicit act with her son has caused outrage across South Africa, as many have called for the South African Police Service (SAPS) to hold one of their own accountable. Minister of Police, Bheki Cele, expressed his condemnation of the accused officer’s actions, declaring that it was beyond comprehension to even consider such heinous acts.

“The victim has been removed to a place of safety and is receiving counseling,” Cele stated. “When you are told that a member of the SAPS has been arrested, it is one of the most painful things. But to do this one is even beyond comprehension. This is not just a member of the SAPS. It’s the real mother of the boy, she is arrested, and to us, she is no more an honorable member; she is a criminal.”

In light of the severity of the charges, Suping announced that the case has been remanded until May 3 to allow for further investigation.
