In light of a forthcoming documentary by Al Jazeera that is expected to uncover corrupt Zimbabwean politicians, including the possible implication of religious figure Uebert Angel, the popular cleric’s recent Instagram post could be a hint at how he plans to handle the predicament.

News of the highly anticipated documentary was broken by award-winning journalist Hopewell Chin’ono who said top ruling party politicians and people affiliated with ZANU PF were secretly filmed by undercover journalists for two years, exposing how they go about looting money from public coffers.

“International news network, Aljazeera will be broadcasting mind-blowing documentary films in March showing astonishing looting, plunder and laundering in Zimbabwe. The ZANU PF crooks and their surrogates were filmed undercover for 2 years, as they spoke about how they do it! The film producers have shown the films to a select group of corruption experts and journalists to look at, and give their comment on the exposures. The documentary films were made by the Al Jazeera Investigative Journalism Directorate. They filmed them since 2021,” announced Chin’ono on Twitter.

Attached to this message were screengrabs from the documentary screening for selected individuals, where Angel is seen, to suggest he is among the exposed looters.

Taking to Instagram, just a couple of hours after the news broke, Angel shared an old video snippet where he was addressing his congregation saying;

“Listen, I’m a prophet through and through, now you start a fire I end it with fire.”
