Highfield Man on the Run After Allegedly Impregnating Former Tenant’s 15-Year-Old Daughter
A Highfield man, Daniel Sagwidza, is currently on the run from the authorities after being accused of molesting and impregnating his former tenant’s 15-year-old daughter.
Allegations of Ongoing Assault and Silence
According to reports, Sagwidza, who used to be the landlord of the victim’s family, allegedly began sexually assaulting the Form 4 student in June and July of last year. It is claimed that he attempted to buy her silence by offering cash.

Pregnancy Exposes the Crime
The shocking crime came to light when the victim’s mother discovered her daughter’s pregnancy, prompting her to take action. Acting Harare provincial police spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Faith Mapisa, confirmed the case.

“The accused person is a former landlord of the complainant’s parents,” stated Inspector. “Sometime in June 2023 at around 1pm, complainant was alone at home while her parents were at work.”

Details of the Assault
The accusations state that in June 2023, around 1 pm, the victim was alone at home while her parents were at work. Sagwidza allegedly entered her room and raped her without protection.

After the assault, he reportedly gave her US$20, instructing her to keep the matter secret. The assaults persisted until July 2023 when the victim became pregnant.

Mother’s Suspicions and Disclosure
The victim’s mother grew suspicious of her daughter’s condition and confronted her, leading to the revelation of the ongoing rape. The family subsequently reported the crime to the authorities.
