Polygamous Man and Second Wife Accused of Murder

A polygamous man, Honored Ncube, and his second wife, Priscilla Moyo, along with his nephew, Mthokozisi Nkala, are accused of killing Ncube’s first wife, Memory Sibanda, and burying her in a shallow grave. The motive was Sibanda’s failure to account for ZAR 10 000 and US$100.

Police Confirm the Murder

Matabeleland North Provincial police spokesperson Inspector Glory Banda confirmed the case. The three suspects allegedly killed Sibanda and buried her body in a shallow grave in a field. This shocking revelation has left the community in disbelief and mourning.

Fatal Attack with Deadly Weapons

According to Chronicles, Ncube and his accomplices attacked Sibanda with an axe handle, knobkerrie, and a log. “The man got angry and started hitting the women together with his second wife and a nephew using an axe handle, knobkerrie and a log. The woman died and they buried her at the centre of the field in a shallow grave,” said Insp Banda.

Arrests and Exhumation

The police received a tip-off and conducted an investigation, leading to the arrests of the three suspects. The victim’s body was exhumed for postmortem in Bulawayo. Insp Banda said, “The police received a tip off and carried out an investigation leading to the arrests of the three. The exhumation process was done. We are now awaiting the postmortem results to determine what actually happened.”

Justice Will Be Served

Insp Banda urged the public to seek help from third parties when facing family challenges, warning that those who resort to crime and violence will be caught and punished by the law. The murder has left the community in mourning and disbelief. The investigation is ongoing, and justice will be served for the victim and her family. This tragic incident serves as a reminder that violence and greed have no place in society.
