Chitungwiza AFM Pastor Arrested for Faking US$7,500 Robbery

Chitungwiza AFM pastor arrested for faking a robbery of more than $7,000 at the church’s residential house.

A Shocking Scheme Unravels

According to reports, Pastor Makuni made a deal with a church member involved in poultry. Pastor Makuni agreed to supply maize to support his business. He was given US$3,000 and a Tecno phone to facilitate the maize supply.

Pastor’s Deceptive Claims

However, the pastor misled his colleague, claiming he was involved in the maize business. He hoped that a friend in the maize industry would supply him. Unfortunately, the friend failed to deliver. When his friend informed him that he could not provide the maize, Makuni resorted to desperate measures.

The Fake Robbery

In an attempt to cover his tracks, Pastor Makuni filed a police report claiming a violent robbery at his church’s residential house. According to the report, he alleged that he was robbed of US$7,500 and other valuables during the invasion.

The police took the report seriously and launched an investigation. As detectives delved deeper, they discovered inconsistencies in Makuni’s story. Investigators soon concluded that he had staged the robbery to evade repaying the money he owed.

Arrest and Implications

The police subsequently arrested Pastor Makuni. He now awaits his day in court to face charges related to the fraudulent scheme.
