Women’s Affairs Minister Monica Mutsvangwa’s Son, Neville, Remanded in Custody
Zimbabwe’s Women’s Affairs Minister, Monica Mutsvangwa’s son, Neville Mutsvangwa, has been remanded in custody until Monday for the continuation of his bail hearing. This is not the first time Neville has faced controversy, as his past troubles come to light.
Multiple Charges Faced by Neville Mutsvangwa
Neville is facing charges of dealing in currency, engaging in unlawful cash trading, and money laundering. Additionally, he faces a separate charge for the possession of a Starlink kit. Detectives from the CID commercial crimes unit conducted the arrest at his residence in Mt Pleasant, Harare.

Illegal Currency Deals and Missing Money
In 2019, Neville’s office at 3 Sanfenand Flats in Harare was raided by the police, who claimed he was conducting illegal foreign currency transactions. Although Neville was not present during the raid, the police discovered a substantial amount of US$200,000. Shockingly, it was later revealed that four detectives conspired with Neville’s associates to under declare the seized money.

Minister Defends Her Son
Minister Monica Mutsvangwa passionately defended her son, vehemently asserting his innocence and claiming that the charges against him were politically motivated.
“It’s definitely political victimisation because my son doesn’t trade in foreign currency. He doesn’t trade in ZiG, so I don’t know what it is and why it had to wait for me to be out of the country. It appears it was timed to coincide with my absence,” stated Minister Mutsvangwa.
