Heavily Discounted Cement Scam Leaves Hundreds Swindled: ZACC Launches Manhunt for Mambondini
The Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC) has launched a manhunt for prominent socialite and “mbinga” Andy Baleni, also known as Mambondini, and Tinashe Zimunya, for fraud following an audacious scam in which they allegedly swindled hundreds of people of US$300 000 in a cement scam.
Heavily Discounted Cement Scam
The accused individuals, who are the Directors of Koffie n King Corporation, purportedly advertised on ZBC Radio Stations, selling heavily discounted cement at US$7.80 per bag. The advertisement lured hundreds of people who ended up losing a total of US$300,000.
According to ZACC spokesperson, Commissioner John Makamure, the two accused are still at large and anyone with information regarding their whereabouts is urged to report to ZACC via social media platforms or their landline.

Manhunt for Fraudsters
ZACC has since released pictures of the accused persons on social media and called on the public to come forward with any information that may lead to their arrest. The commission is determined to bring the alleged fraudsters to book and recover the money lost by the unsuspecting victims.
Possible Motive
The motive behind the scam is still unclear, but it is believed that the accused may have taken advantage of the ongoing shortage of cement in the country, which has led to an increase in prices. Makamure urged members of the public to be cautious when conducting business transactions and to report any suspicious activities to the relevant authorities.
