Odzi Man Sentenced to 20 Years for Molesting 12-Year-Old Stepdaughter

A 32-year-old man from Odzi has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for molesting his 12-year-old stepdaughter. The incident occurred on May 18th this year.

Brutal Assault by Odzi Man

The court heard that the accused man was left to care for the 12-year-old stepdaughter and her other three siblings while his wife had gone to work. The man then told the stepdaughter that he wanted to pray for her since she was not going to school. He took her to the bush and allegedly molested her once before returning home with her.

Caring Brother Revealing the Truth to the Mother

The brother of the girl saw her crying and asked what was troubling her. It was then that she revealed what had happened. She narrated how she was tricked and how the incident unfolded. When the mother came back from work, the girl’s brother narrated the story to her, which led to her husband’s arrest.

Man Sentenced to 20 Years Behind Bars

The man was sentenced to 20 years behind bars. “The accused person was sentenced to 20 years imprisonment,” the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe’s press statement read.

Shurungwi Man Sentenced for Attempted Murder of Employee

In a separate incident, a 41-year-old Shurungwi man, Tawanda Darangwa, has been sentenced to 3 years in prison for attempted murder. The court heard that on September 22nd, 2021, Darangwa, a shop owner, went to his establishment to purchase beer. When his employee informed him that they had run out, an argument ensued, and Darangwa allegedly pulled out a pistol and shot her in the shoulder.
