Job-Seeking Nightmare: Borrowdale Man Arrested for Raping A Teenager Seeking Employment As Maid

A young girl’s dreams of employment were shattered in a harrowing incident that unfolded on Monday, as she was allegedly raped by a Borrowdale man to whom she had been referred for a job opportunity. The 17-year-old victim, whose identity remains undisclosed, informed her aunt of the traumatic ordeal via WhatsApp, leading to the arrest of Herbert Madhume, 27, who stands accused of this heinous crime.

In response to this heinous act, the Harare provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Luckmore Chakanza, has issued a statement confirming the arrest and condemning the alleged actions of the accused. The victim was immediately referred to the Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals for a thorough medical examination, as the authorities work to uncover the truth surrounding this despicable act.

According to Inspector Chakanza, H-metro reports, “The complainant was looking for a job as a maid and was linked by a friend to get in touch with the accused.” The victim received a call from the accused, who instructed her to meet him at Simon Muzenda bus terminus before giving her directions to his residence.

Upon arrival, the young girl discovered that the accused resided in a single room, which she shared with him. It was during the night when the accused allegedly committed the crime, with the victim sleeping on the floor while the accused rested on the bed.

“At around 9 pm, the accused person woke up and sneaked into the complainant’s blankets and raped her once without protection,” shared Inspector Chakanza. “He further raped the complainant thrice on three different intervals.”

The shocking and appalling nature of this crime has sent shockwaves throughout the community and beyond, as the authorities work to bring the accused to justice. As the victim receives medical attention and support, hearts go out to her and her family during this trying time.
