A 24-year-old Nigerian man, Suleiman Isah Isah, has become a source of inspiration for many after defying tradition and marrying an American woman, Janine Sanchez Reimann, twice his age. Suleiman first saw Janine on Instagram and fancied her so much before he decided to slide into her DMs. Initially, the American lady was cold to him as she assumed he was a scammer. But Suleiman caught her attention by commenting on a scammer’s profile, saying, “get a job and quit scamming innocent people.” Janine recalls, “So I thought he sounded like a nice guy.”
The couple started talking, and soon enough, they fell for each other. They got engaged in February 2020, just before the COVID-19 lockdowns, and married in December of the same year in Kano State, Nigeria. At that time, Suleiman had just turned 23, and Janine was 46.
