Three Men from Bulawayo Commit Suicide by Hanging

The city of Bulawayo was recently hit by three tragic incidents of suicide by hanging. The police have confirmed that the deceased were all men from different parts of the city, including a recently released prison inmate.

Victims Identified

Bulawayo deputy police spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Nomalanga Msebele, identified two of the victims as Michael Gonye (28) of Pumula South and Bongani Mahlobo (40) of Hope Fountain. The third victim remains unidentified.

Details of the Incidents

According to Msebele, the first incident occurred on July 15 when a man from Emakhandeni Bulawayo discovered the body of the unidentified victim hanging from a tree branch. The victim was wearing a black jacket, khaki worksuit trousers, and a pair of farmer shoes. A wire was used to hang him.

The second incident took place on July 14 when Michael Gonye, who was complaining of tonsils, hanged himself using a belt from the roof truss of his bedroom. His father discovered his body the next morning.

The third incident occurred in Hopefountain, outside Bulawayo, and involved Bongani Mahlobo, who had just been released from Khami Prison. His father found him hanging from the roof using a rope when he returned home from work.
