Chiredzi Man Brutally Murdered After Being Accused of Using Mubobobo On Fellow Man

In a shocking incident, a man from Chiredzi in Masvingo province was brutally murdered by his fellow villager who claimed to have dreamt of him using mubobobo on him. Henry Manyara (71) was gruesomely killed in the presence of his wife by Evans Bhazela (25), who repeatedly struck his head with an axe handle until it split into pieces.

Mubobobo is a magical way of having intercourse without the victim’s consent, and the real motive behind the brutal killing is yet to be established. However, according to a source from the area who claimed to have intimate details of the incident, Manyara was killed on suspicion that he possessed mubobobo.

Lifestyle tabloid B-Metro, Manyara’s wife helplessly watched as Bhazela repeatedly struck her husband’s head with the axe handle, leaving pieces of his brains splattered on the ground. Bhazela’s family reportedly paid seven head of cattle to Manyara’s family for the retrieval of his body from the mortuary for burial and to cover funeral costs. However, an additional 35 head of cattle is yet to be paid as compensation for the callous murder of Manyara.

Manyara’s relative, William Musepa (59), confirmed the incident, stating that they were still struggling to come to terms with the brutal death of Manyara. He also added that they were yet to establish the motive behind the grisly murder.

Investigations from some neighbours revealed that Bhazela had a long-standing dispute with Manyara, whom he once worked for. On the fateful day, Bhazela went to Manyara’s homestead and accused him of possessing mubobobo. He claimed to have dreamt of Manyara using the magical way of having intercourse on him the previous night, which triggered his trance-like state.

Musepa also narrated that Bhazela went to Manyara’s homestead three times before the brutal murder. The first two times, Manyara was not there as he was busy in his fields. However, on the third visit, Bhazela found Manyara on his way back from the fields in the company of his son-in-law.

Bhazela insisted on talking to Manyara alone, claiming that the matter needed only the two of them. Sensing danger, Manyara refused and sent his son-in-law to call the village head so that Bhazela could tell his story in his presence. After his son-in-law had left, Bhazela took an axe handle and started hitting Manyara on the head. He repeatedly struck him until his skull split into pieces.

When some people who were nearby attending a church service heard Manyara’s wife wailing, they quickly came to the scene. However, Bhazela chased after them violently. Manyara’s wife watched helplessly as her husband was being pounded repeatedly on the head by Bhazela, who also threatened to kill her if she tried to intervene.

The matter was later reported to the ZRP Mkwasine, who attended to it and arrested Bhazela. The incident has left the entire village in shock, with Manyara’s family still mourning their beloved one. Investigations into the motive behind the brutal killing are ongoing.
