Chipinge Teenager Arrested for Molesting 8-Year-Old Girl Over a Pen

A 16-year-old Chipinge teenager has been arrested for molesting an 8-year-old girl over a pen. The crime took place on June 4th, 2024, as the young girl was on her way to school.

A Cry for Help

The 8-year-old girl had left home without a pen and started crying on her way to school. Her neighbor, who was herding cattle, noticed the distressed child and called her over. The girl explained that she was afraid of being punished by her teacher for not having a pen.

A Betrayal of Trust

The callous teenager then seized the opportunity, offering the girl a pen and luring her into a nearby bush. Once there, he forcefully removed the child’s clothes and molested her. After the heinous act, he left the young girl under a tree.

Seeking Justice

After gaining some courage, the young girl went back home and narrated the incident to her mother. The victim’s mother wasted no time in reporting the incident to the police, leading to the teenager’s swift arrest.

A Lenient Sentence

The teenager appeared before Chipinge Magistrate Courts facing rape charges and pleaded guilty. He was sentenced to 5 years in prison, wholly suspended for 5 years on the condition of good behavior.

“The accused person pleaded guilty to the charges and was sentenced to 5 years imprisonment, wholly suspended for 5 years on the condition of good behavior. Further, he was ordered to undergo monitored supervision by a probation officer for 2 years,” read the NPAZ press statement.
