Zvishavane Man Sentenced to 18 Years for the Brutal Murder of His Wife Over Relish Money

A Zvishavane man has been sentenced to 18 years in prison for the brutal murder of his wife following a disagreement over money for relish.

A Tragic Dispute Over Money

According to court reports, Nobert Mhlanga, 40, murdered his wife on April 14, 2022. The couple had a misunderstanding about finances that escalated into violence. Earlier that day, Mhlanga returned home from work and gave his wife money. He instructed her to buy relish for the week before leaving again.

A Fatal Decision

 

When Mhlanga returned home, he discovered that his wife had not bought the relish. Instead, she purchased a new school satchel for their child, as the old one was worn out. Mhlanga expected to be served a meal with relish, but to his surprise, there was no meat on the table.

Angry and frustrated, he confronted his wife about the missing relish. The argument quickly escalated, leading to a violent altercation. Mhlanga began to beat his wife with open hands and dragged her outside.

A Gruesome Attack

Outside, Mhlanga grabbed a hoe and struck her three times. He then picked up bricks and violently struck her all over her body. The brutal assault resulted in severe injuries, and the wife died on the spot.

Neighbors who witnessed the horrifying incident immediately reported it to the police. Officers arrived at the scene and arrested Mhlanga without delay.

Justice Served

Mhlanga appeared before the Gweru High Court facing murder charges. The evidence against him was overwhelming, leading to his conviction. The court sentenced him to 18 years in prison for his actions.
