ZRP Police Launch Intensive Manhunt for Robbers Who Snatched Cars, Cash, and Valuables Worth Over US$27K
The ZRP police have launched a manhunt to arrest the robbers who have stolen cars from two motorists, along with cash and valuables worth more than US$27K. These robbers are reported to be using a Honda Fit to intentionally cause accidents and carry out their robberies.
Police Investigating Robbery Incidents
Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi, the national police spokesperson, confirmed that the Harare police are actively investigating the two robbery cases. According to Assistant Commissioner Nyathi, the suspects orchestrated road traffic accidents as a means to carry out their criminal acts, targeting victims’ valuables and cash. Preliminary investigations suggest that the robbers used a Honda Fit vehicle as part of their modus operandi.
First Incident: Robbery and Vehicle Theft
In one incident, which took place on April 9, 2024, at the intersection of Hurtsview Drive and Lantana Way in Ridgeview, a motorist driving a Toyota Mark X vehicle was rear-ended by a Honda Fit. Subsequently, three armed robbers attacked the driver with a hammer, forcibly taking possession of the Toyota Mark X vehicle.

Second Incident: Cash Robbery
In another incident along Derby Road in Avondale, Harare, on April 8, 2024, at approximately 9:30 PM, a motorist driving a Toyota Mark X was hit from behind by a Honda Fit. During the collision, the robbers seized the opportunity to steal a substantial amount of US$27,300 in cash from the victim.
