ZRP Officers Arrested for Stealing Gold and More Than US$50K Cash from a Gweja at the Accident Scene
A quartet of ZRP police officers has been arrested for stealing 2 kg of pure gold and more than US$50K from a gweja at an accident scene.
ZRP Officers Respond to Alarming Incident
The officers, identified as Tafa, Mujabuki, and Karimanzira, were on patrol near the Selous roundabout when they received alarming news. A good Samaritan spotted the accident scene and alerted the officers. The victim, a gweja, had been involved in an accident and fell unconscious. According to reports, the gweja had US$80,000 in cash and 2.16 kg of pure gold in his vehicle.
Officers Exploit Accident Victim
Upon arriving at the accident site, the officers found the gweja unconscious inside his damaged car. Instead of helping the victim, they began searching the vehicle. They discovered a shocking amount of cash and gold and proceeded to steal US$57,000 and 2 kg of pure gold from the car.
The Investigation Unfolds
Following the theft, an investigation was launched. The officers returned to the gweja’s home, where they delivered US$22,500 to the victim’s father. This action raised suspicions and prompted further inquiries.
When the gweja regained consciousness, he disclosed the total amount of cash and gold he had. This revelation led directly to the arrest of the quartet of officers.
