This surpasses their previous best ODI score of 351 runs against Kenya in Mombasa in 2009. Chevrons Sean Williams leads the charge

The Chevrons’ skipper, Craig Ervine was absent, but Sean Williams scored 174 runs from 101 deliveries. Williams surpassed the scores of many greats, including Craig WishartAndy FlowerGrant Flower, and Brendan Taylor. By the 49th over, he held the third highest score in ODIs for Zimbabwe, behind Hamilton Masakadza (178 not out) and Charles Coventry (194 not out).

Total carnage in the first innings

Zimbabwean batters made light work of USA bowlers, with records tumbling in the country’s ceremonial home of cricket. From team records to individual scores, there was total carnage in the first innings. Ryan Burl fell one hit short of equaling AB De Villiers’ fastest half century in the history of ODI cricket (16 balls). Burl was caught on 47 runs off 15 deliveries. Sikandar Raza fell two runs short off his half century on 48 runs from 27 balls.

In the commentary box, Chevrons great, Andy Flower, hoped American players learnt something from Williams’ play. Williams’ status as Zimbabwe‘s greatest is now certain.

USA Chasing Zimbabwe’s Record-Breaking Score

The USA faced a monumental task, needing to recover from Zimbabwe’s massive score of 408 runs in 50 overs. However, they failed in the second innings of the match. Zimbabwe’s remarkable achievement makes them the seventh country to score 400+ runs in ODIs, joining South Africa, India, Sri Lanka, New Zealand, England, and Australia

Chevrons fans Trolled USA during  the match

Chevrons fans trolled the USA team with some comparing Zimbabwe’s local currency to the USD. Some were seen holding placards saying, “This is not basketball,” as Americans are known for playing good basketball. Some fans were saying that the Chevrons have become so good that they need to compete against bigger teams like Australia and India.
