ZDF Soldier Convicted for Failing to Pay US$75 Children Maintenance
A Zimbabwe Defence Forces(ZDF) soldier has been found guilty of failing to pay US$75 the court-ordered maintenance for his three minor children.
Court-Ordered Maintenance for Soldier’s Children
Simbarashe Chiimba, a 42-year-old soldier, attended court on March 6, 2023, following a maintenance issue. The court ordered him to pay a fee of US$75 and ZWL 33,000 per month for his three children. This order was effective as of March 31, 2023.

ZDF Soldier Defaults on Payments
However, Chiimba defaulted on his payments and, by the end of December 2023, his arrears had accumulated to US$520, covering the period from December 2023 to June 2024.

“The accused person was sentenced to 5 months imprisonment which were wholly suspended on condition that he pays all the arrears through the clerk of the court on or before 30th of August 2024,” read the statement from the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ).

Beitbridge Man Arrested for Attempted Murder in Donkey Cart Dispute
In another story, a Beitbridge man was arrested for attempted murder following a heated dispute over a donkey-drawn cart with his neighbor.

Dispute Over Borrowed Donkey Cart Turns Violent
According to reports, Secret Nyathi approached his neighbor who had borrowed his donkey-drawn cart earlier. The cart was not working well, and Nyathi wanted to know the cause of the fault. However, the neighbor’s explanation did not satisfy Nyathi, and it made him angry.

Nyathi then took a mopane log he had with him and started striking his neighbor. He struck the victim once on the forehead and twice on the back. The neighbor managed to escape and seek refuge at a nearby home, where he received assistance before being taken to the police station, leading to Nyathi’s arrest.
