Two Inmates Escape Prison Just Weeks Away From Completing Sentence
Two prison inmates who were serving three-year sentences for unlawful entry reportedly escaped from Gokwe Prison, on Saturday evening just weeks before they complete their prison terms.
After escaping the duo then robbed a shop owner at Gwehava business centre, a few kilometres from Gokwe town.
According to NewsDay one of the escapees was re-arrested, while his accomplice, Decent Sibanda of Kana Mission, is still at large.
He was expected to complete his sentence on 31 May 2023.
The escapees were reportedly at a prison farm near Gwehava business centre where they were looking after the prison cattle and maize.
After escaping from lawful custody, they robbed a nearby shop of some grocery goods and other valuables.
Meanwhile, a 15-year-old boy from the suburb of Pelandaba West in Bulawayo has been taken into custody on charges of raping his 12-year-old cousin, leading to her pregnancy. The community has been left shaken by this heinous crime, which allegedly occurred in December of last year.
Reports indicate that the girl’s older brother instructed her to deliver a pair of shoes to her cousin. Upon her arrival, the young man reportedly pulled her into his house and into his bedroom. Once there, he allegedly forced himself upon her, leaving her traumatized and alone.
According to B-metro It wasn’t until the girl’s mother noticed that her daughter was pregnant that the truth came to light. After some questioning, the young girl bravely revealed that she had been sexually assaulted by her own cousin.
The matter was immediately reported to the authorities, who took swift action to bring the perpetrator to justice. The complainant was also referred to Mpilo Hospital for a thorough medical examination.
