From the Shadows: Sniper Storm Breaks Silence on Bitter Origins of Beef with Winky D
Zimdancehall pioneer Sniper Storm has shed light on the origins of his beef with Winky D, attributing it to their differing backgrounds.
The Beginning of Tension
Explaining the root cause of the tension, Sniper highlighted that his upbringing in the low-density suburb of Waterfalls clashed with Winky D’s origins in the Kambuzuma ghetto. According to Sniper, this disparity led to Zimdancehall fans from the ghetto rallying behind Winky D to compete with him.

Addressing his declining popularity, Sniper revealed that he suddenly found himself ignored by the majority of Zimdancehall fans. He noticed a decrease in show bookings and radio airplay, which left him puzzled and disheartened.
“All of a sudden, I started receiving bad offers from promoters,” stated Sniper.
He further highlighted the drastic change in his professional prospects. As an example, he mentioned receiving a meager offer of US$50 as a supporting artist at a Jah Cure show.
