Sleepover Turns Deadly: Gweru Woman Jailed for Murdering Husband’s Girlfriend
A woman from Gweru has been convicted for murdering her husband’s girlfriend in their matrimonial bed after a sleepover.
A Night of Terror
According to reports, this incident occurred on the 10th of February 2023, when Stacy Mkandla went to church for an all-night prayer. While she was away, her husband invited his girlfriend to their home for a sleepover. Reports indicate that the girlfriend, now deceased, was aware that she was dating a married man.

Caught in the Act
The following morning, Mkandla returned home to a horrifying sight. She found her husband completely naked and his girlfriend half-naked in their bed. Overcome with rage, Mkandla jumped onto the bed and began beating the girlfriend with her fists.
When her husband intervened, Mkandla ran to the kitchen to grab a knife. She returned, attempting to stab the girlfriend, but her husband managed to disarm her. He took the knife outside to hide it, hoping to prevent further violence.

A Fatal Decision
While the husband was outside, Mkandla seized another opportunity to attack. The two women began quarrelling again, and Mkandla returned to the kitchen for a second knife. She stabbed the girlfriend on the right side of her head, once in the breast, and once in the back.

Hearing screams from inside the house, the husband rushed back to find his girlfriend bleeding heavily. As he tried to stop Mkandla from inflicting more harm, the girlfriend managed to escape the scene. Tragically, she collapsed and died on the street before reaching the hospital.
Justice Served
A police report was filed, leading to Mkandla’s arrest. She appeared before the Gweru Magistrates Court, where she faced murder charges. The court found her guilty, and she received a 10-year prison sentence.
