It looks like a Zimbabwean man stole the spotlight during an EFF national shutdown event in South Africa.

A Shona-speaking man made waves on social media after a video of him went viral, chanting slogans and insulting South African President Ramaphosa.

Talk about crashing a party.

The video caused a bit of a stir in the political world, with many debating whether foreign nationals should be getting involved in South African politics.

Fikile Mbalula, the ANC Secretary General, certainly had his feathers ruffled when he shared the video on Twitter, trying to shame the Zimbabwean man for his actions.

But, oops, it backfired.

South Africans Rally Behind Zimbabwean Protester Following Fikile Mbalula’s Criticism

South Africans and Twitter users rallied behind the Zimbabwean protester, calling out Mbalula and the ANC for allowing foreigners into the country in the first place.

In the video, the Zimbabwean man can be heard shouting in Shona, “Ngaende Ramaphosa. Ngaende! Ngaende!” Translation: “Ramaphosa should go. He should go! He should go!” A bit repetitive, but hey, when you’re passionate, you’re passionate.

It’s not every day that a foreign national gets involved in another country’s politics, but this Zimbabwean man clearly had something to say.

Watch the video below:

Below are some of the reactions to Fikile Mbalula’s post:

@Kagisano_:

Your party gave them free access, I’m glad these ZEP holders are showing you middle fingers. Hope it happens on a daily basis until you realize how disrespected and hated ANC is.

@Hlomza_ZA:

Serves both of you well. You have long refused to secure our borders and now we have foreigners who are taking active part in our national politics.

@ManyovuG:

It serves @MYANC right.

You allowed them in and forced them to stay with poor SAns against limited resources @MYANC seems to be afraid of @simbachitando and @matinyarare they speak as they wish about SA. So don’t complain about this one.

They hv bn insulting SAns all along
