Late Night Shenanigans: Couple Caught in Harare Street
In the wee hours of Sunday morning, a scandalous scene unfolded in Harare Street as a couple engaged in sexual activity in full view of the public. Houghton Ndengu, a 31-year-old man from Mandara, and his lover Sichelesile Dube were arrested for their lewd behaviour.
Caught Red-Handed
The couple was discovered in the act by patrolling police officers, and despite being caught in the act, Ndengu resisted arrest.
Witnesses describe the scene as a free drama and watched as Ndengu wrestled with two police officers. One witness stated,
“Hanzi handisungike nekuti mungatobuda basa mese” (meaning “He said I cannot be arrested because they will lose their jobs”).

Arrested and Detained
H-Metro reports that Ndengu’s actions led to his arrest and that of his lover Sichelesile. They were both taken to Harare Central Police Station and detained.
No comment has been made by the Harare provincial police spokesperson, Luckmore Chakanza, but sources have confirmed that the couple remains in custody.
Public Indecency
The couple’s actions were deemed unacceptable by many, and rightly so. Having sex in public is a form of public indecency and is punishable by law.
It not only violates the law but also infringes on the rights of others to not be subjected to such lewd behavior.
In the words of one witness, “This is shameful behavior that should not be tolerated.” The couple’s actions have left many members of the public outraged and disgusted.
It is important to note that such behavior is unacceptable and has no place in our society. The law exists to protect the public from such indecency, and those who engage in such behavior must face the consequences.
