Sensational Resignation Shakes Zimbabwe Diamond Company: Woman at Center of “Mjolo” Controversy Quits

The Zimbabwe Consolidated Diamond Company (ZCDC) has been rocked by controversy following the resignation of Rutendo Mangatu. Mangatu was at the center of a storm triggered by an irregular promotion that saw her being elevated into a ghost executive position. She was promoted to the post of Information Knowledge Analyst, reporting directly to former CEO Mark Mabhudhu. The position did not exist within the company’s structures. Despite this, Mangatu enjoyed a host of incentives, including trips to Dubai, South Africa, and Botswana.

Scandalous Workplace Romance

One of these trips saw Mangatu being driven to Botswana in Mabhudhu’s official vehicle. The decision to move her to work from the former CEO’s office, which had never happened at ZCDC before, fueled speculation.  The duo was having a romantic workplace relationship. However, they both denied the speculation. According to h-metro, Mabhudhu has since been dismissed from his job, which has led to Mangatu’s resignation.

Panic and Resignation

Mangatu was facing charges of allegedly leaking official company documents in an industry that is very sensitive. Before presenting herself at the hearing, she decided to quit the firm. Sources say that she fell into panic mode when it was revealed that the CEO had been dismissed. Mangatu had been suspended pending a disciplinary hearing.

Alleged Furniture Removal from CEO’s Office

The controversy at ZCDC is far from over. One of the issues that are still outstanding relates to the whereabouts of the furniture that was removed from the CEO’s office after the firm acquired a new set. “There is suspicion here that the furniture was taken to Mangatu’s house, but the investigations are continuing and we will get to know the full facts soon,” said sources.

Scandalous Promotion

Mangatu joined ZCDC in February 2018 as an ICT Assistant (Grade B3) prior to the coming in of Mabhudhu as CEO. She experienced a meteoric rise within the company’s structures and even ended up being promoted to a ghost position. Prior to her promotion, she had told the company that she was being pursued by NMB Bank and had received a lucrative offer from the financial institution. This forced ZCDC to improve her package and give her a promotion
