Rimbi Village, Chipinge, was left in a shock after a 6-year-old girl’s life was cut short after sustaining severe burns while playing house(mahumbwe). Tawananyasha Mwaziyangeyi-Hanyanisi, the young victim, passed away at Chipinge District Hospital 13 days after the tragic accident.

Father Describes the Painful Ordeal

Tawananyasha’s father, Mr. Willard Mwaziyangeyi-Hanyanisi, recounted the excruciating experience his daughter endured during her painful journey. Her entire body suffered severe burns, with only her head remaining relatively unscathed. The incident took place while Tawananyasha was playing alone.

A Heartbreaking Loss

The bereaved father expressed the family’s anguish, sharing the challenges they faced while their daughter battled her injuries for 13 agonizing days before succumbing to them.

“We went through a painful period as a family since the day our daughter got burnt,” stated the father. “However, it is our daughter who went through the most excruciating pain during the 13 days she was nursing the injuries that later resulted in her death.”

Tawananyasha’s cries for help went unanswered as there was no one at home to assist her during the accident. Her mother had gone to the river to do laundry, leaving her unattended.

“Her skin was burnt all over and the only part of her body that remained with skin cover was her head,” said the father. “She was alone when the incident happened. There was no one to assist her at home, and this meant she cried a lot but could not get any help. Her mother had gone to the river to do laundry.”
