Murdered and Dumped in Stream: Chinhoyi Woman’s Shocking Death
A 28-year-old woman, Petronella Mapuranga, was murdered and her body was discovered in a stream near a shopping center in Chinhoyi. According to Mashonaland West provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Margaret Chitove, Mapuranga left home in Gadzema suburb at around 6 pm to buy relish for supper. However, she never returned home.
Churchmate Receives Distressing Call
On the same day, Mapuranga’s churchmate, Yvonne Mudonzvo, received a call from her number from another person, who told her that Mapuranga had been stabbed with a knife by an unknown person. Mudonzvo searched for Mapuranga but couldn’t find her, so she reported her as a missing person at Chemagamba Police Station the following morning.

Body Found in Stream
The next day, a girl who was fetching water discovered Mapuranga’s naked body in the stream. According to H-Metro, the police were then alerted, and the CID Chinhoyi attended the crime scene. Mapuranga’s body had some injuries on the left eye. Inspector Chitove said,
“A report was filed and CID Chinhoyi attended the crime scene. Her body had some injuries on the left eye.”
Chinhoyi Police Appeal to Public for Information
Inspector Chitove appealed to the public for any information that may lead to the arrest of the suspect. She urged anyone with information to contact the nearest police station immediately.
“We are appealing to members of the public who might have information that may lead to the arrest of the suspect to contact any nearest police station.”
The investigation is ongoing, and the motive behind the murder is still unclear. The community is left in shock and mourning over the tragic loss of Petronella Mapuranga.
