Liverpool FC Extends Contract of Zimbabwean Starlet Isaac Mabaya
In a move that secures the future of one of their young talents, Liverpool FC has extended the contract of 18-year-old Zimbabwean starlet Isaac Mabaya. The announcement was made by the club on Saturday, with Mabaya joining Luke Chambers and Jarell Quansah as the latest Academy prospects to have their contracts extended.
Versatile Academy Prospect
Mabaya has been with Liverpool FC since he was just six years old and has been working his way through the ranks. He made a name for himself during last summer’s pre-season schedule, catching the eye of manager Jürgen Klopp and earning several appearances with the first team. According to the club statement, he was “employed mostly as an attacking option from right-back, although he can also play in midfield.”

Liverpool FC Statement On Isaac Mabaya Signing New Contract
A statement on the Reds’ website reads:
“The versatile Academy prospect caught the eye during a number of appearances with Jürgen Klopp’s first team in last summer’s pre-season schedule, where he was involved during the Asia tour and training camp in Austria.
“He was employed mostly as an attacking option from right-back, although he can also play in midfield.
“The 18-year-old first joined the Academy at the age of six and broke into the U18 team when he was 16.
“He has been working hard to return from a frustrating early-season injury that curtailed his progress this term and is now ready to resume his upward curve with the Reds.”
A Frustrating Start to the Season
Mabaya’s progress this season was hampered by an early injury, but he has been working hard to get back on track. The 18-year-old broke into the U18 team when he was 16 and has been impressing Liverpool’s coaching staff ever since. With his contract extension, he will have the opportunity to continue his upward trajectory with the Reds.
