Kundiso Gone Wrong: Madzibaba Chikowore Convicted for Molesting Congregant Under Holy Spirit’s Pretense
A self-proclaimed madzibaba from Mutare, Tendai Chikowore, has been convicted after molesting a congregant at his shrine under the pretense of the Holy Spirit.
Spiritual Guidance Turns Dark
According to reports, the woman went to Madzibaba Tendai Chikowore’s shrine on the 6th of July to seek spiritual guidance. Madzibaba claimed she needed cleansing and offered her water for bathing. Afterward, he instructed her to rub ashes on her body in a nearby bush.

Believing in his supposed spiritual authority, the woman complied. However, as she applied the ashes, Chikowore suddenly appeared and pushed her down onto her back, before molesting her.
A Terrifying Encounter
During the assault, the woman attempted to scream for help. But Chikowore silenced her with threats. He warned her to stop screaming or she would lose her voice permanently. Despite her desperate cries, she could not escape his grip.

After the ordeal, he told her that arguing with the Holy Spirit would prevent her from regaining her voice. He claimed his actions were divinely sanctioned, further manipulating her vulnerability.
A Brave Escape
Despite her trauma, the woman managed to escape and sought help. However, she faced a significant challenge, that she could no longer speak. To communicate she had to write down her account on a piece of paper.

Once she reported the incident to the police, they immediately launched an investigation and quickly located madzibaba. He was arrested and brought before the Mutare Magistrates Court.
Justice Served
In court, Chikowore faced serious charges of rape. The evidence presented was compelling, leading to his conviction. The magistrate sentenced him to 20 years in prison, but with three years suspended. Therefore, he will serve 17 years effective.
