‘Junior Parliamentarian’ Defrauded Hundreds of Dollars: Zimre Teenager Rakes in More Than US$2,000 in Fake SADC Parliament Scam
A teenager from Zimre Park, Ruwa, has been arrested for defrauding high school students of more than US$2,000 in a scam involving the Junior Motivators SADC Parliament program.
Teenager Posed as Junior Parliament Member to Dupe Students
The accused, who posed as a member of the junior parliament, approached various schools, promising students a chance to join the program. He charged them US$62 for registration and a uniform, as well as an additional US$50 for a camping trip to Domboshawa Resort. After collecting the payments, the teenager disappeared without a trace, leaving the students duped.

Teenage Arraigned, Released to Guardian’s Custody
“A 17-year-old boy from Zimre Park, Ruwa, was arraigned before the Harare Magistrates’ Courts for defrauding high school students. The accused person was released into the custody of his guardian. The matter was remanded to September 5, 2024,” read a statement from the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe.

Murder Charges for Norton Man
In a separate incident, Sauro Shezha from Norton appeared before the Norton Magistrate’s Courts, facing murder charges.

Suspect Charged with Murder, Found in Possession of Victim’s Phone
According to reports, the alleged incident occurred on August 20, 2024. It is claimed that Shezha stabbed the now-deceased Matinhire Nyikadzino twice in the throat, resulting in his death. During Shezha’s arrest, he was found in possession of Nyikadzino’s phone. The case has been remanded to September 5, 2024.

Man Remanded in Custody
“Sauro Shezha (27) of Jington Plot, Norton appeared before the Norton Magistrate’s Court facing murder charges. He was remanded in custody to September 5, 2024 and was advised to apply for bail at the High Court,” read the NPAZ press statement.
