Domboshava Husband Sets Wife on Fire over Matrimonial Property Dispute

A married husband from Domboshava, Ashely Kabaya, is facing murder charges after allegedly setting his wife on fire during a dispute over the division of matrimonial property. The heinous act resulted in the death of Spiwe Jenyure from her injuries.

A Tragic Incident Unfolds

According to court proceedings, the dreadful incident occurred on April 15 when the couple was in the process of finalizing their divorce and decided to divide their property. It was at that moment that Kabaya locked the door, trapping his wife, Jenyure, inside. He proceeded to launch a violent attack on her using a golf stick.

Kabaya then proceeded to douse his wife’s body with a deadly mixture of cobra venom and paraffin before callously igniting the flames that engulfed her. Despite the horrifying ordeal, Jenyure summoned her strength and fought back, managing to grab hold of Kabaya during the struggle.

Brave Bystander and Community Members Rally to The Assist Injured Couple

The commotion caught the attention of a passerby who rushed to help. They forcefully broke down the door and, with the assistance of other community members who had gathered at the scene, attempted to extinguish the fire. Both Jenyure and Kabaya were immediately transported to Makumbe Hospital in Domboshava. However, due to the severity of their burns, they were later transferred to Parirenyatwa Hospital for specialized care.

Wife Succumbs to Injuries & Husband Faces Murder Charges

Tragically, Spiwe Jenyure passed away last Wednesday at Parirenyatwa Hospital, where she was receiving treatment for her injuries. The husband, currently recovering from burns, is now facing murder charges for his wife’s death. The court will ensure justice is served.
