Cunning Witch Doctor (18) Scams Grieving Widow out of Cash and Vehicles
A grieving widow from Old Tafara, Harare has been scammed out of her hard-earned cash and possessions by a group of cunning fraudsters who posed as witch doctors. The alleged mastermind behind the scheme is Donewell Kufandirori (18), who appeared before Harare Magistrate Mr Dennis Mangosi charged with extortion.
Kufandirori and his six accomplices, who are still at large, identified themselves as witch doctors and threatened the widow and her family with death unless they were paid US$10,000 and two vehicles. The alleged perpetrators claimed that the widow’s late husband’s wealth was accrued through the use of goblins given to him by the fake witch doctors during his lifetime.
The Herald reports that the terrified widow eventually bowed down to the extortionists’ demands and handed over US$3,800. She was then escorted to the group’s base in Mutoko for “cleansing,” where further threats were made to her.
The fraudsters demanded that she sign an agreement of sale for the two vehicles the following morning, warning her not to disclose the matter to anyone.

A Crime of Greed and Deception
This shocking story is a stark reminder of the dangers of blindly trusting strangers, especially those who make dubious and unsubstantiated claims. The perpetrators of this heinous crime preyed on a vulnerable and desperate widow, manipulating her fears and emotions for their own selfish gain.
As the investigation continues, it is hoped that justice will be served, and the perpetrators brought to book for their crimes.
