Daring Mbare Man Steals Building Material, Attempts Reselling To The Person He Stole From
A notorious thief has been brought before the Mbare Magistrates’ Court on charges of theft. Innocent Charakupa, a 40-year-old man, stands accused of stealing building materials from a construction site and attempting to sell them back to the man he had stolen from.
Charakupa, who was previously convicted and sentenced to 18 months in prison, with four months suspended on the condition that he does not commit a similar offence in the next five years, has failed to convince the court that he is a reformed man.

Magistrate Eliza Chivangwe refused to grant him bail and he will appear in court again on April 10 for plea recording. Charakupa’s lame excuse for the theft was that he had no source of income, which led him to steal.
The State, H-metro reports, led by Blessing Chibowere, presented a compelling case against Charakupa, stating that he went to the construction site and stole building material. Later, he returned with the same material and attempted to sell it to the complainant. The complainant identified the stolen material and reported Charakupa to the police, leading to his arrest.
Charakupa’s actions have left the community in shock and the court has urged him to turn his life around. The court has also warned Charakupa that any further acts of theft will result in harsher punishment. The case serves as a reminder that crime does not pay and that the law will always catch up with those who break it.
