Bloody Brawl Over Filter: Chitungwiza Man Arrested for Murdering Homeboy in Cigarette Dispute

A 46-year-old man from Chitungwiza has been arrested for murdering his homeboy over a cigarette dispute.

Deadly Dispute Over Cigarette

According to reports, Prince Gwashure had a misunderstanding with Manfred Mujuru (44) over a cigarette. The altercation enraged Gwashure, leading him to beat Mujuru with his fists and feet. Mujuru was injured and admitted to Chitungwiza General Hospital for treatment, but tragically succumbed to his injuries.

Police Confirm Arrest

The ZRP has confirmed the arrest of Gwashure in connection with Mujuru’s murder. “ZRP confirms the arrest of Prince Gwashure (46) in connection with a case of murder which occurred along Kunaka Street, Unit C, Chitungwiza on 06/07/24 in which Manfred Mujuru (44) died,” read the ZRP press statement.

Domestic Violence Leads to Conviction in Kwekwe

In another incident, a 40-year-old man from Kwekwe was arrested and convicted for beating his wife over an infidelity issue.

Husband Assaults Wife with Machete

The court heard that on June 6th, 2024, the couple had a misunderstanding in which the husband was accusing his wife of infidelity. The argument escalated, leading the husband to physically assault his wife using the back of a machete. The wife subsequently filed a report with the police, leading to her husband’s arrest.

Court Proceedings

The husband was sentenced to 7 months imprisonment, of which 3 months were suspended. A further 4 months were suspended on the condition that the accused person performs 140 hours of community service.

“The accused person was sentenced to 7 months imprisonment of which three months were suspended. A further four months were suspended on condition that the accused person performs 140 hours of community service,” read the NPAZ press statement.
