Chimanimani Man Arrested for Sleeping with His 14-Year-Old Grade 7 Girlfriend

A 20-year-old man from Chimanimani has been arrested and sentenced for sleeping with his 14-year-old girlfriend, who is in Grade 7.

Abuse of Trust and Manipulation

According to reports, the young man approached the girl on her way to school and proposed love, to which she agreed. In January 2024, the man requested sexual intercourse, and the grade 7 girl consented. The two continued sleeping togather at the girl’s home, as her guardian brother was away in Mutare for work.

Discovery and Police Involvement

The matter came to light on April 9th when the brother returned from work and noticed his sister’s absence. He asked around and was told that she had been seen “rocking around” the area with her boyfriend. The brother then went to the boy’s home and found the two together. The brother then went to the police station and filed a police report, leading to the young man’s arrest.

Sentencing and Punishment

The man appeared before Chipinge Magistrate Courts facing charges of sleeping with a minor. He was found guilty of the charge and was sentenced to 24 months imprisonment.

“The accused person pleaded guilty to the charge and was sentenced to 24 months imprisonment. 12 months were suspended. A further 12 months was suspended on condition that he completes 420 hours of community service,” read the NPAZ press

Zambian National Arrested for Targeting and Robbing Zimbabwean Teenagers

In others news, Mutaba Kambert Kunda, a 30-year-old Zambian national, has been arrested for targeting and robbing Zimbabwean teenagers in Zimbabwe. Authorities allege that Kunda used intimidation and violence to steal valuable electronics worth over US$2,200 from his unsuspecting victims.
