Netizens trolled government ministers after images of them visiting an accident victim with a plaster made of a cardboard box went viral.

Transport Minister Felix Mhona, along with Local Government Minister Daniel Garwe and Minister of State for Matabeleland South Evelyn Ndlovu, visited Beitbridge Hospital to comfort the victims of a tragic accident that occurred three days ago. The accident involved an Urban Connect bus that collided with a truck near the Utumba Tollgate. This horrific crash claimed 24 lives and left many injured.

Controversy Erupts Over Shocking Image

The delegation’s actions, however, sparked controversy. An image surfaced showing Minister Garwe with a victim who had a broken hand. Instead of proper medical equipment, the hand was plastered with a cardboard box. This shocking image ignited a firestorm on social media as netizens began to voice their outrage.

Fadzai Mahere Critiques Healthcare Disparities

Former CCC spokesperson Fadzai Mahere expressed her dismay at the image. She questioned, “Why are government hospitals using cardboard to make a ‘plaster’? Is this medicine?”

Mahere continued her commentary by comparing the situation to the Minister of Finance’s luxurious lifestyle. She stated, “In the left frame is the expensive Range Rover being driven by Zimbabwe’s Minister of Finance. In the right frame is a lady receiving ‘care’ at a public hospital.”

Technically this can work as a makeshift splint after a Colles fracture. Ideally a prefabricated carbon fibre or thermoplastic wrist cock up or resting hand splint would have been better
