Broncleer Addiction Leads to 10-Year Sentence for Son Who Stabbed Biological Father

Broncleer (Ngomwa) leads a Bulawayo son to 10 years imprisonment for stabbing his biological father.

Tragic Family Violence

According to court records, Busani Casper Mlauzi came home drunk, after drinking Broncleer,  at around 11:30 PM, entered a room where his niece was sleeping. He then woke her up and asked for sexual intercourse with her. She refused and sprinted to her grandfather’s bedroom, screaming. Busani followed her, and as his biological father tried to stop him from attacking his niece.

Brutal Stabbing of Father

He then stabbed his father five times before he collapsed. After that, he fled, and the father was rushed to the hospital. The incident was reported to the police, leading to Busani’s arrest.

Drunken Son Convicted of Attempted Murder of Father

Busani appeared before Western Commonage regional magistrate Sibongile Msipa-Marondedze facing an attempted murder charge. He pleaded guilty to the charge. Busani apologised to his father and begged the court to forgive him.

“I’m really sorry for what I did, I was under the influence of Broncleer syrup and njengu. I don’t know how I stabbed my father, I feel ashamed for what I did,” he said.

Magistrate’s Stern Sentence

The magistrate convicted and sentenced him to 10 years of imprisonment. Five years were suspended on condition that he does not commit a similar offence within a period of five years.

The magistrate cited that the abuse of drugs was a cause for concern to the country, and the Government was fighting hard to end the epidemic.
