Bindura Brothers Arrested for Brutal Murder of Sister’s Estranged Husband
Two brothers from Bindura have been arrested for the brutal murder of their sister’s estranged husband.
Brothers Sent to Collect Sister’s Belongings
According to reports, on July 6th, 2024, Shadreck Mukono, 24, and John Mukono, 31, were sent by their sister to her former home to collect her belongings. The couple had been living separately, awaiting the finalization of their divorce.

Violent Confrontation and Deadly Assault
When the brothers arrived at the home, they were not allowed to enter, as the husband was not present. Upon his return, the husband refused to let the brothers take their sister’s belongings, citing the need for a witness from either family.

Violent Assault and Fleeing the Scene
Enraged by this response, the brothers launched a violent assault on the husband, beating him mercilessly with wooden sticks all over his body. Witnessing the unconscious man laying on the ground, bleeding, the brothers then fled the scene.

Tragic Aftermath and Police Investigation
Neighbors who witnessed the incident rushed the gravely injured man to Concession Hospital for immediate treatment. However, his condition continued to deteriorate, and he was later transferred to Bindura Provincial Hospital, where he tragically passed away on July 8th, 2024.

Arrests and Pending Trial
A police report was filed, leading to the arrest of the Mukono brothers. They are currently remanded in custody, awaiting their trial scheduled for August 20th, 2024.
“Shadreck Mukono (24) and John Mukono (31) were brought before Bindura Magistrates Court on allegations of murder. The accused persons were remanded out of custody to the 20th of August 2024,” read a press statement from the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe.
