Beitbridge Father Sentenced for Molesting Drunk 12-Year-Old Daughter
A 41-year-old father from Beitbridge has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for allegedly getting his 12-year-old daughter drunk before molesting her at his home.
Father Molesting Daughter During Holiday
During the August holiday in 2023, the father sent his other children away and was left alone with his young daughter. He then went to the shops, bought beer, and forced the intoxicated child to drink it until she fell asleep. The father then took advantage of the vulnerable situation and molested his own child that night.

A Betrayal of Trust
As she woke up, she was overwhelmed by the pain in her stomach and genitals. Troubled by her condition, the girl confided in her father’s girlfriend, who promised to take her to the hospital. Tragically, the father refused to seek medical attention for his abused daughter.

A 12-Year-Old’s Courage, a Community’s Outrage
It wasn’t until a concerned community member tipped off the police that the authorities were alerted to the girl’s plight. The medical examination confirmed the sexual abuse, leading to the father’s arrest on April 19th. However, the perpetrator managed to escape police custody, only to be rearrested two days later.

Justice Served, but the Scars Remain
The father appeared before Beitbridge Magistrate Courts and was convicted of rape. He was sentenced to 20 years in jail for count 1. The court also ordered him to pay a fine of US$250.
“He was sentenced to 20 years imprisonment for count 1,” read the NPAZ press statement. “He was also sentenced to pay a fine of US$250 or in default 6 months imprisonment for count 2.”
