Prophet Madungwe Sentenced to Community Service After License Scandal

Self-proclaimed prophet Talent Madungwe has been sentenced to perform community service after driving without a license and negligent driving.

A Troubling Incident near Airport Road

According to court records, the incident occurred on August 6 at around 10 AM. Madungwe was involved in an accident shortly after exiting his home. He was driving a Toyota Aqua, a gift from tenderpreneur Sir Wicknell Chivhayo.

As Madungwe left his residence, he collided with a Nissan NP300 single cab along a strip road next to Airport Road. The Nissan was heading south toward Harare CBD when the accident happened.

License Confusion

When the owner of the Nissan exited his vehicle to assess the damage, he recognized Madungwe as the driver. He asked Madungwe for his driving license, but the prophet appeared confused and admitted he did not have one.

The Nissan owner promptly filed a police report regarding the incident. Fortunately, the Nissan NP300 only sustained minor damage to its load box.

Court Appearance and Sentencing

Madungwe appeared before the Epworth Magistrates Court, facing two counts of violating the Road Traffic Act. For the first count, he received a wholly suspended four-month imprisonment sentence. This suspension is conditional on him not committing a similar offense for the next five years.

For the second count, the court sentenced him to six months in prison. However, three months of this sentence were suspended for five years. The remaining three months are contingent upon Madungwe completing 105 hours of community service.
