A young miner from Shackleton Mine in Chinhoyi has been arrested for burning down his father’s Nissan Sunny and house after visiting Masowe.

Family Feud Turns Fiery

According to reports, Knowledge Jani, aged 21, sought help for his illness at Masowe. There, he received alarming news that his father and stepmother were bewitching him. Convinced they were to blame for his suffering, Jani acted impulsively upon returning home.

A Destructive Act of Anger

When Jani arrived at his father’s house, he discovered the Nissan Sunny parked outside. His father and stepmother were not home at the time. In a fit of rage, he drained the fuel from the car. He then poured the gasoline around the house and the vehicle.

Jani lit a fire, resulting in a devastating blaze that consumed both the house and the car. The total value of the destroyed property reached an astonishing US$14K. When his father and stepmother returned, they found their home in ruins.

Mhangura Man Convicted for Molesting Ex-Wife in Front of Their Baby Over New Love With First Husband

After discovering the charred remains of their property, the couple filed a police report. Police launched an investigation and quickly identified Jani as the arsonist. Evidence confirmed that he had set the fire, leading to his swift arrest.

Jani appeared before the Chinhoyi Magistrates Court, facing serious charges of malicious damage to property. The court found him guilty of the charges. He received a four-year prison sentence, with one year suspended on the condition of good behavior. This means he will serve three years effectively.
