Chipinge Drunkard Arrested for Murdering His One-Year-Old Nephew
A Chipinge drunkard has been arrested for murdering his sister’s one-year-old baby (nephew) over her decision to return home after separating from her husband.
Confrontation Leads to Violence
According to reports, Kufakwevanhu Chirigo confronted his sister, Uria, on September 14, 2024, about her separation from her husband. He questioned why she returned home with her child, but Uria ignored him. This dismissal triggered his violent outburst.

A Brutal Attack
Irritated by the silence, Chirigo grabbed a hammer and struck Uria on the back. Despite the attack, Uria managed to escape with her baby, locking herself inside the house. Furious, Chirigo broke a window to gain entry.
Uria’s Desperate Attempt to Escape
Feeling threatened, Uria opened the door in a desperate attempt to flee. Unfortunately, Chirigo caught her before she could escape. He then seized an axe from a nearby scotch-cart and struck her once on the neck.

Tragic Assault on a Child
The situation escalated further as Chirigo attacked his nephew, Advisor Mlambo. He hacked the innocent child several times on the head with a machete. Uria bravely tried to protect her son, sustaining multiple injuries to her arms in the process.

Neighbors Come to the Rescue
Her cries for help alerted neighbors, who rushed to the scene. However, Chirigo managed to flee before they arrived. Uria was taken to a local clinic, but unfortunately, it was closed.
Heartbreaking Discovery
Upon returning home, she discovered that her baby Advisor had died from the injuries inflicted during the attack. Heartbroken, she reported the incident to the police.

Swift Police Response
On September 15, police received tips from villagers who spotted Chirigo. They reacted swiftly, leading to his immediate arrest.
