Mvuma Father Arrested for Murdering 15-Month-Old Daughter

A 38-year-old father from Mvuma has been arrested and convicted for murdering his 15-month-old biological daughter.

Mother Leaves Infant with Father for Social Welfare Food

The shocking incident occurred on February 19, 2021. According to reports, Trust Khaki, the father, is alleged to have killed his infant daughter while her mother was away. On that fateful day, the mother left her daughter in his custody to collect social welfare food. When she returned, she found her husband holding the infant, who was struggling to breathe.

Mother Rushes Daughter to Grandmother

The mother immediately noticed her daughter’s forehead was deformed. Bruises covered her chin, and the left side of her face was swollen. Additionally, there was a scratch on the back of the child’s head. Alarmed, she rushed her daughter to her grandmother for help.

Grandmother Finds Infant Dead

Upon examination, the grandmother discovered that the infant was already dead. This shocking revelation prompted the family to file a police report. Investigations quickly revealed that the infant had been struck once on the head with a blunt object. Additionally, the child had suffered multiple injuries to her body from an unknown object.

Court Proceedings

The police report led to the arrest of Khaki, the father of the deceased infant. Khaki will appear in court on September 13, 2024, for sentencing.

“A Mvuma man was convicted at the High Court sitting in Gweru on murder charges. The accused person will appear in court on Friday, September 13, 2024, for sentencing,” read the NPAZ press statement.
