Maponga Exposes ‘Flawed’ Bible, Challenges Chiwenga to Theological Debate

A self-proclaimed Pan-Africanist, Joshua Maponga, challenges Apostle Talent Chiwenga to come forward and have a theological debate concerning the Bible.

Maponga Cites Ancient Egyptian Influences on Biblical Narratives

During the DJ Ollah 7 podcast, Maponga questioned the origins of most biblical teachings found in the New Testament. He explained that most of the stories written in the Bible are found in ancient Egyptian texts, questioning the Messiah story.

“The whole concept of a man with twelve disciples is written on the walls of Egypt, thousands of years before even the Messiah was born,” stated Maponga.

He further questioned the origins of the concept of the Virgin Mary, claiming it too predates the biblical narrative.

Conflicting Accounts of Herod and John the Baptist

Delving deeper, Maponga questioned the logic behind the story of Herod killing John the Baptist, only for Jesus to later seek refuge in Egypt, where the same Herod who killed John the Baptist was now dead.

“When he was chased away from Palestine to go to Egypt, Herod was going to kill him. And this is the same Herod who was at war with John the Baptist. So Jesus goes there and lives for twelve years learning there. Then the angels say, ‘go back now, the man who wanted to kill you is now dead.’ And this is the Herod who killed John the Baptist. So the fact that he is now dead means that John the Baptist had died. When Jesus started his ministry, who baptized him? But Herod died. It does not add up,” questioned Maponga.

Calling for Chiwenga’s Response

Maponga then directly called on Apostle Chiwenga to come forth and explain the reasoning behind these apparent discrepancies. DJ Ollah promised to organize another interview, bringing Maponga and Chiwenga, or other religious leaders, together to discuss these issues further.

Promoting Critical Thinking

Maponga’s underlying motivation, he stated, is to raise a new generation of critical thinkers, not mere blind followers of any religion or cult. He believes it is essential to question the authenticity of the biblical narratives and their origins.
