Brave Security Guards foil armed robbery and recover $35 000 stolen loot

Security guards from Safeguard Security Company in Zimbabwe demonstrated bravery and skill in thwarting an armed robbery at ZX Fuels premises in Southerton, Harare, early Tuesday morning. The guards successfully recovered US$35,050 stolen by an eight-man gang of armed robbers who had raided the premises.

 

Attack and Robbery

The gang, who were masked and armed with pistols, iron bars, and hammers, attacked a security guard on duty, took the gate keys, and entered the premises. They proceeded to use iron bars to force open the safes and steal an undisclosed amount of money.

Reaction and Shootout

The Safeguard Security Company’s reaction team arrived at the scene during the robbery and was attacked by the robbers. A second reaction team was quickly deployed, and a shootout ensued between the guards and the robbers. During the crossfire, one of the robbers was shot dead, and the other seven fled the scene.

Recovered Loot

The security guards recovered a satchel that was carried by the shot robber, containing US$35,050 stolen from the premises. The police have since confirmed that they have launched an investigation and are appealing to anyone with information that may assist in the arrest of the seven remaining robbers to come forward.
