Shocking: “Father Offers US$5 Monthly Support for Two Children”
A father has offered US$5 monthly maintenance for each of his two kids, claiming he makes just US$15 a month. Sifelani Mutsuto appeared at the Harare Civil Court after being dragged to court by his ex-wife, Tendai Mupeteteri, who demanded US$190 for the support of the children.

Maintenance Offer and Income
According to H-Metro, Mutsuto offered US$10 for his two school-going kids, one in Form 1 and the other in Grade 6. He claimed his new wife supported him and that he only did part-time jobs in Msasa whenever he was called. “I am not working and only do part-time jobs in Msasa, wherever I’m called. My offer is US$10,” said Mutsuto.
Dispute Over Misused Money
Tendai disputed Mutsuto’s claim and accused him of misusing the money she sent while she was working in Botswana. She had left him with their children after their divorce in 2017 and returned in January this year to demand maintenance.
Court Order
The magistrate ordered Mutsuto to pay US$60 and half of the children’s school fees as maintenance for his two children.
