Mwenezi CID Officer Faces Court for Stabbing Partner to Death During Drinking Spree
A Mwenezi Criminal Investigation Department (CID) officer, Farai Simudzirai, appeared in court before Karoi magistrate Blessing Makati, facing murder charges for allegedly stabbing his partner, Privilege Hove, to death during a beer spree.
Fatal Clash During a Night Out
According to court documents, on April 21, around 11pm, Simudzirai and his fellow officers, including the now-deceased Hove and Mirirai Chiveza, were enjoying a night of drinking at a local club in ZRP Karoi Urban.

A disagreement arose among the patrons, leading to Chiveza attempting to defuse the situation by escorting Simudzirai outside the nightclub. Unfortunately, this intervention only escalated matters further.

A Fatal Blow
Simudzirai, clearly agitated, struck Chiveza on the forehead with an unknown object. The situation took a devastating turn when Hove, bravely coming to Chiveza’s aid, found himself targeted by the accused. Simudzirai then brandished an Okapi knife, stabbing Hove in the stomach, causing his intestines to protrude.

Critical Medical Intervention
The injured Hove was swiftly rushed to Karoi District Hospital by Chiveza and concerned members of the public. Due to the severity of his condition, Hove was later transferred to Chinhoyi Provincial Hospital and subsequently to Sally Mugabe Hospital in Harare.

Tragic Outcome & Awaiting Justice
Despite the medical efforts made to save his life, Hove tragically succumbed to his injuries shortly after admission to Sally Mugabe Hospital.
Simudzirai, now facing a murder charge, was denied bail and is scheduled to return to court on May 8 for routine remand.
