Dark Cloud Over School Start: Mutero High School Students Grapple with Injuries in Back-to-School Combi Accident
A dark cloud looms over the back-to-school season as 18 students from Mutero High School sustained injuries in an accident when the combi they were traveling in overturned near Munyathi River shortly after leaving Harare. The Mash East Police Spokesperson, Simon Chazovachii, confirmed the incident. He stated that the injured students are currently being transported to Chivhu Hospital for medical treatment.
Government Directive on Accepting ZiG as Legal Tender
The Permanent Secretary of Primary and Secondary Education, Moses Mhike, warns schools refusing to accept ZiG as a form of payment. Private schools, primarily, have been hesitant due to concerns about potential black market implications. Mhike stresses the importance of schools abiding by the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe’s pronouncement and accepting ZiG as legal tender.

Investigation Underway for Hit and Run Accident in Harare
In another story, ZRP have launched an investigation into a tragic hit and run incident. The incident resulted in the death of a 31-year-old man. The victim was struck by an unidentified motorist driving a Toyota Vitz vehicle along Tafara Way, near Kamunhu Business Centre, in Mabvuku on the 4th of May 2024. Sadly, the victim lost his life at the scene, while the driver fled without stopping after the collision.
